For lack of a better term, we'd call this a "mini" Super Tuscan, comprised of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Syrah from cooler vineyard sites near Montalcino. And because of those cooler sites, the alcohol is restrained (only 13%), and the Syrah is fresh and balanced, with real lift. However, this is no lightweight, as the concentration is intense, with plenty of blue/black fruits in evidence and a long, ripe finish. We forced ourselves to sample it over a three-day period, and the positive development with that aeration was suggestive of the $30 price tag you'll find many online merchants asking for this beauty. One of the best values in our store!
