Nothing on the label informs you that the grower of this Cabernet Sauvignon is Andy Beckstoffer (yeah, the one of Beckstoffer-To Kalon Vineyard fame!) or that the winemaker is Aaron Pott, formerly of Quintessa. However, Beckstoffer is quietly amassing a portfolio of Lake County vineyards (he calls the Red Hills area "the best Cabernet Sauvignon growing region I've ever seen"). For the AERENA 2017, he and Pott selected mountain fruit at around 2,400 feet elevation from obsidian and iron-rich soils, which gave a beautiful, black-fruited wine that simply defies description within the parameters of its humble $16 TFWR best pricing. If you've ever tasted a better $20 or under American Cab than this, please let us know!!!
