Italy's best Méthode Champenoise sparkler, Franciacorta, is not as well-known as it should be. Top versions of it- such as Antica Fratta's- often deliver better quality at a better price than many NV cuvées from the big Champagne houses. This 90% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Nero delight is bone-dry and full on the palate.
