
The tiny village of Bugey- situated halfway between Lyon and Geneva- turns out what has to be the most exuberant, fun-filled pink wine in our store: the delightful, sparkling Cerdon of Renardat-Fâche. Gamay and Poulsard are started off in stainless steel tanks, then after partially fermenting, the juice is bottled with its yeasts and allowed to complete fermentation with just a kiss of sweetness remaining at the end, at which time the yeasts are removed and the wine is corked and caged. What you get here is a brilliant reddish-pink color, the overwhelming aromas and flavors of Alpine fraises and wildflowers, a lithe, barely-there filament of minerality and only 8% alcohol!
