The firm of Carl Loewen is one of our favorites and still a bit of a sleeper...for reasons we cannot fathom. Under the leadership of patriarch Karl-Josef, the firm has slowly and carefully added to its portfolio some of the Mosel's steepest old-vines parcels. Devonian era slate- with a band of red iron and volcanic red soil- marks their unusual and superb Herrenberg vineyard, which was planted in 1903. And if one didn't believe that 2020 is a Kabinett vintage, one taste of this pearlescent beauty will change that! This is simply a marriage of great grower, great vineyard and a great tradition of producing Kabinett that's barely off-dry. Vegan.
