Note: this is an ex-cellars release, shipped in perfect conditions by Rosenthal Wine Merchant. From Rosenthal's Adam Walker: "I am excited to announce a library release of Closerie du Pelan of Bordeaux, our newest grower, which is now under the ownership of Château Le Puy as of 2021. The estate is located adjacent to Le Puy in a small village called Le Pin, 3 kilometers away from Le Puy. Throughout the past 4 decades, Pelan and Le Puy have shared a similar vision (with a great deal of cross-pollination of ideas due to the friendship between the Amoreau and Moro families), and have aligned closely with regards to farming and vinification. Pelan has been organic since the early 1980s and certified as such since the early 2000s. It has been fully biodynamic for the past decade. The wines are appellation Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, the terroir is clay and sand topsoil on a combination of limestone ‘molasse’ and limestone ‘asterie’, depending on the plot. The blend is approximately 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Fermentation takes place in open air foudres with punchdown extraction, and then there's aging on the lees for 18 months. Total sulphur never exceeds 50mg, and the wines are never fined or filtered."
