Here's a fantastic cuvée, created specially for the 50th anniversary of Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant. From the importer:
"Our new custom blend is sourced from 40 year-old gobelet-trained vines on the plateau of Signargues, on the right bank of the Rhône between Tavel and the Pont du Gard. Signargues sits on an alluvial riverbed terrace from the Villafranchian era, not unlike a famous cru just across the Rhône, with which it shares a soil completely covered with galets roulés. The grapes are 100% organically farmed by a handful of local growers who bring their fruit to the co-op.
In the cellar, fermentation is carried out by native yeasts and the wine ages in concrete; our cuvée is unfined and unfiltered with a minimal dose of SO2 added only at bottling. This is classic Côtes du Rhône that delivers deep, dark, garrigue-inflected ripe fruit, with a luscious full body and chewy, stony finish. It combines hedonistic pleasure with terroir-driven complexity in a delicious and affordable package.
We have created our own blend from a selection of the best-tasting tanks in the same spirit as our long-standing "KL Côtes du Rhône," but you can expect a bit more depth, luster, and verve from the dark berry fruit in this Villages bottling."
56% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 7% Carignan, 2% Cinsault. Organic.
