Sixth generation Bordelaise winegrower Hervé Fabre picked up his entire family and moved to Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina in 1990. His plan was not to buy vacant valley floor land and plant (as many other growers did during the "Mendoza land boom")...but to only buy healthy, dry farmed, old vines plots of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc at elevation. Thirty years later, Hervé's plan has paid off in a big way, with most prominent wine writers in agreement that Fabre has the best collection of old-vines sites of any Mendoza grower, and that Hervé's rich, concentrated, expressive Cabernet Franc might the region's best in the under-$20 price range. We wouldn't hesitate to put this on the table next to great Chinon or left bank Bordeaux of real pedigree, because it IS that good! Vegan.
