We've long felt that Combe aux Moines should be designated a Grand Cru...and the pricing of Fourrier's version certainly approaches those heights. Jean-Marie's 2018, from almost an hectare planted in 1928, offers classic Gevrey mushroom, fish scale and a surprisingly lifted and elegant raspberry fruit. In this most hot and dry of vintages, Fourrier has traded the gravitas of Grand Cru to make a fine and precise 1er Cru...and there may be no better 1er Cru wine made in all of Gevrey!
