When it comes to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Tom and Susan Higgins' superb Heart & Hands possesses a unique and unfair advantage over its Finger Lakes neighbors: a rare run of limestone subsoils cuts right through their vineyards! Not surprising then, that this 2019 "Verve" Chardonnay could easily be mistaken for a top St Aubin or Monthélie Blanc; it's leesy, nutty and elegantly rich from a good amount of lees stirring during elévage. The '19 growing season was a massive challenge for Finger Lakes growers, but you'd never know it after tasting this impressive wine.
