The AVNI cuvée is Larry Stone's "villages"-equivalent Chardonnay. In 2018, the grapes are sourced mostly from vineyards with volcanic subsoils in the Eola-Amity Hills and complemented by a bit of fruit from the Van Duzer Corridor. What's in the glass in unmistakably Oregon, albeit through the Burgundy looking-glass: taut, structured and citrusy...yet restrained in alcohol and spicy from a tiny bit of new oak. Burgundy lovers that we are, we'd have no problem at all putting this up against some of that region's best Chardonnay! First rate.
