Here's another great red Burgundy that offers even more proof that one doesn't have to break the bank to enjoy the best that this region has to offer. The commune of Maranges, at the very southern edge of the Côte de Beaune, offers tremendous richness and amplitude in vintages such as 2020, yet there's a structure and reserve that serves as a constant reminder that this is Burgundy of the highest order. Fornerot's vines in the premier cru of Chamery are over 50 years old, and the sap and vigor expected of old vines is very much here.
