The Côte de Beaune village of Monthelie is tucked into a little valley adjacent to Meursault and features vineyards which almost entirely face south. So it's no surprise that this Pinot Noir doesn't lack in ripeness or in cherry-fruited intensity. However, unlike so many 2018s in which elevated alcohol and over-extraction feature in so many wines, this gem remains quite cool and poised. Quite the value here, given the stratospheric prices of more famous adjacent villages.
