Here's a white Rioja that hails from the Haro district, grown and cellared by a firm new to the US market, Gomez Cruzado. We were immediately impressed with the restraint and balance shown in this wine, which no doubt comes from a judicious stay in unobtrusive oak barrel (the "Segundo Año" on the label refers to the wine's release after two years in the cellar). Honeysuckle, stone fruit and that little exotic something great white Rioja can sometimes display are all featured in this 75% Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco blend. Sustainable viticulture.
