One can scarcely read an article on the new wave of Spanish wines without encountering the gushing praise for Telmo Rodriguez and the brilliant series of Alavesa Riojas he's turning out at Bodega Lanzaga. The "LZ" is sourced from bush vines in the cool Lanziego zone, fermented in concrete with native yeasts and then aged in concrete for six months before bottling. That might lead you to believe this is a simple, fruity, almost joven-style wine...but Rodriguez' wines are simply in a class of their own.
