Moscato master Gianni Doglia also excels at crafting easy-drinking, value-packed reds from his choice vineyards in southeastern Piemonte. And when the thermometer goes up, we start to crave the juicy Ruché that hails from a tiny section of vineyards within the zone of Monferrato that is the home of this little-known grape. Whereas almost all Piemonte reds tend to be either incredibly acidic or incredibly tannic, Ruché is a soft, gentle, rounded thing that offers up gushing aromas and flavors of strawberry and raspberry. And- as you might have guessed- a tiny chill makes it all the better. It's also of of the all-time great pairings for classic American BBQ (you heard it here first!).
