
It's not widely known, but Chasselas (think Pinot Blanc, but with a bit more structure and cut) is an important grape in Alsace wine production, although much of it is blended into Edelzwicker and Crémant. For years, however, Bernard Schoffit- master of the cru Rangen de Thann- has bottled an old-vine version of Chasselas that perennially tops our list of personal Alsace favorites.
