As wonderful as Stolpman's tangle of dry-farmed, estate-grown 75% Syrah, 15% Grenache, 10% Sangiovese is, the real story with their La Cuadrilla has always been the groundbreaking work it represents in the area of sustainable labor practices. The annual project of producing this wine is left 100% in the control of the extraordinary year-round vineyard staff...even the selection of the final blend, with the only rule being that the wine must be at least 50% Syrah. The profits from each year's La Cuadrilla then becomes the staff's bonus pool...an utterly unique approach to compensation that we have yet to see duplicated at any winery in North America! This year's label, titled "Adelita", is in honor of the women of La Cuadrilla, who are entrusted with the most difficult and meticulous tasks in the vineyard. Dry-farmed, sustainable farming.
