The GG vineyard of Palmberg- one of the Mosel's steepest and most precarious slopes- yielded a commanding Kabinett Trocken in 2021 that's one of the highlights of this incredible vintage. Its 80-100 year-old vines delivered a mineral, nuanced and razor-sharp wine that will reward extended cellaring, although we doubt many will be able to resist immediately diving in! The blue and gray slate Palmberg is now essentially a monopole vineyard, owned entirely by Ulli Stein and Philip Lardot; were there a larger group of owners, there's no doubt it would be much better known and rated at the very top of the Mosel pantheon.
