Vitovska, a cross between Prosecco Tondo and Malvasia Bianca Lunga, is a grape native to the Italian-Slovenian border regions; in terms of aroma and flavor, we find it almost identical to Malvasia Bianca. However, it's not a dominant variety there, and the only notable and great renditions of this rare grape issue from the Vodopivec cellar. It's vinified in Vodopivec's signature orange/amber/skin contact style, but there's a life and vigor to this wine, and the tannins are held well in check. Rich, complex, savory and explosively aromatic are just a few of the words we tossed out upon first tastes.
