We're normally not moved by either the new wave of "drinkable young" Barolos or critical reviews (Vinous, 92 points in this case), but both our prejudices went flying out the window with this beautiful, pinpoint-precise Barolo from noted Dogliani specialist Marziano Abbona. It's got dried rose petals, camphor, spice, a bit of leather and a hint of white pepper and does indeed drink well right now, provided you have appropriate protein, starch and/or vegetables to play off the gentle-but-persistent tannins.
