Anna Asmaquer's Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine that practically demands- despite its fresh, exuberant Nouveau-ness- to be taken seriously. As its very "serious Beaujolais" price indicates, the wine comes entirely from hand-harvested estate Gamay, vinified with ambient yeasts (none of the freakish banana-and bubblegum aromas that indicate lab yeast here!). In addition, the wine hasn't been chaptalized, cold-stabilized, pasteurized or sterile filtered, and bottling was done with a minimum of sulfur added. As good as the wine is right now- and it's a must-have for your Thanksgiving table- experience tells us that it'll begin to drink at an even higher level as summer approaches. Impressive and eye-opening! Sustainable viticulture.
