The young Cristian Boffa has burst onto the scene with a group of 2020 Baroli that are a snapshot of that joyous and energetic vintage. And at the top of the list has to be his intense, powerful La Morra from the Caplalot vineyard. The influence of his friend and mentor, Luigi Oddero (and undoubtedly Luigi's right-hand man, Dante Scaglione), is all over this wine that backs up its big frame with plenty of raspberry-fruited tar-and-rose pungency. Although this is a wine that'll easily cellar well for a couple of decades, it has that 2020 quality of being oh so tempting to sample now.
