Fabrizio and Marco Gallo make what we consider to be one of Italy's finest Pinot Noirs in the unlikely location of Friuli's Isonzo Valley. It's admirably aromatic, concentrated and full of spicy, black cherry aromas and flavors. There's more subtlety here than in all but the best California Pinot Noir, and while the wine's complexity may not be exactly Burgundian, what's on offer at its very reasonable price makes it a fine value.
