La Gerla, formed by the late Sergio Rossi from a former holding of Brunello legend Biondi-Santi, produces the most elegant, aromatic and balanced wines of Brunello. However, their entry-level red, the Poggio Gli Angeli, is one of the top values in red wine from anywhere in Tuscany. It's got all the pomegranate/cranberry zing of great Sangiovese and is incredibly aromatic and high toned for such an inexpensive wine.
