On top of making fiercely great table wines, Peter Lauer is one of Germany's very best Sekt producers. His steely gray slate vineyards along the Saar give him the perfect Riesling to work with, and he crafts a yeasty (three years on the lees, disgorged in October, 2024), low-dosage (10g/L) gem of a wine that we wouldn't hesitate to put into a tasting of the finest Champagne.
