Raventós i Blanc has been one of the very best estates for Catalan sparkling wine (aka Cava), but like many of their compatriots, such as Gramona and Recaredo, they have left the Cava DO and sought in recent years to achieve even more spectacular quality with their wines. In this case, Raventós' vineyards near the river Anoia have been designated by the authorities as a DO, with the Blanc de Blancs of Xarel-lo, Parellada and Macabeo vinified to the strictest standards and given 18 months in bottle.
