If the label looks familiar, that's because this is a property owned by the Lur Saluces family of Château d'Yquem fame. In fact, they've owned it since the late 1400s and craft their Sauternes in the same fastidious manner they do at Yquem...however, the de Fargues somehow sells for a fraction of the price. The 1996 vintage was an excellent one (with plenty of botrytis), so if you can't pay Yquem's kingly ransom, here's a luscious, honeyed and mature Sauternes. Exquisite!
