We've always loved the Sherry look-alike wines from Alvear in Montilla-Moriles, and they're almost always equal to the very best offerings from the more famous nearby region. Case in point is this dark, dense, mahogany-colored PX whose natural sweetness and flavors of caramel and coffee are offset by copious acidity and complicated by the solera process (the average age of the wine is 30 years!). This is one of the few wines we love to drink with chocolate and desserts featuring chocolate.
