Therese and Ryan Fessenden’s Anyway Wine project has knocked it out of the park with their first release of this 50-50 Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah blend, sourced from both their Lake Road Vineyard on the eastern side of Cayuga Lake and Sheldrake Point Vineyard on the opposite side of the lake. We love it because it’s the exact opposite of an Australian expression of the same blend: it comes in at a modest, balanced 13% alcohol, yet the blackcurrant, pepper and toasty cedar notes you’d expect in such a wine are all there. Honestly, the Syrah component of this wine is the best we’ve encountered from this grape in the FLX! Superb.
