This Veneto beauty- made of Corvina and Rondinella- is one of the great light red wines of Italy. Savory and satisfying, it coddles the palate rather than bludgeoning. Its acidity and structure also make it all-time classic pizza wine as well as a great accompaniment to vegetarian fare. The late Gianni Piccoli, founder of Corte Gardoni, almost singlehandedly revived the reputation of the Bardolino zone, and his children are continuing Gianni's groundbreaking work. Don't be afraid to put a light chill on this Bardolino if the meal and the weather call for it.
