We've always wondered why more FLX wineries didn't dabble in making a Passetoutgrain-style wine (a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir that makes for spectacular, well-priced red Burgundy), especially after tasting Nancy Tisch's 2023 "Twice Noir", a blend of 55% estate Gamay and 45% Pinot Noir from Niagara Escarpment pioneer Arrowhead Springs' Freedom Run vineyard. There's a brooding, serious edge here that shows the dark concentration of the vintage, and the combination of Gamay and Pinot Noir gives a result that we can only describe as 1+1= 3.
