Jean-François Germain makes a wonderful Chassagne-Morgeot from a plot within the vineyard called Fairendes, which for us is the top Chardonnay cru of the southern part of the appellation. The color is a bit deeper and more golden than Jean-François' Meursaults, and the aromas and flavors of white peach, toasted almond and honeycomb dominate. Expect this 2018 to become quite the dense and commanding wine in 4-6 years' time...if you can wait that long! Last tasted in March, 2025, the wine is just entering prime drinkability, with the classic Morgeot butterscotch aroma and undertones of quinine coming to the fore.
