The Mingot family's Château Maréchaux has long been one of the top producers of Bordeaux Supérieur from the Right Bank commune of Blaye. This mostly-Merlot wine- bolstered by a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon- always shows admirable structure in its youth, and the top-notch 2020 has shed some formidable tannins and is now entering a great window for drinking. There's good richness and a dark-fruited quality here that can only come from conscientious farming (Maréchaux is an HVE- Level 3 certified producer: no herbicides or pesticides in the vineyard). Sustainable viticulture.
