The husband and wife team of Josephin and Jarkko Peränen have, since 1999, made a Chianti Classico in the Conca d'Oro section of the commune of Panzano that is a perfect expression of a darker, richer side of this enormous appellation. It's reliably ripe without being cloying or over-extracted, and to our taste, it is simply the best value going in a region where the top wines are all around the $40 price point. Organic.
