Dillon Buckley, whose day job is making wine at Hermann J. Wiemer, has impressed with his first efforts, and the 2022 Cabernet Franc, sourced from Wiemer-managed Serenity Vineyard, features a lovely tension between the lift imparted by 50% whole cluster fermentation and the power of the 2022 vintage expressed by the balance of the wine. Pyrazines are ripe, and there’s a bit of tannin appropriate to this hot, shy-yielding vintage. Spontaneously fermented and unfined. It’ll be stunning in 3-5 years, but we doubt anyone will wait.
