Philippe Rossignol's Gevreys are unapologetic, old-fashioned Burgundies that don't always show well in their youth. So when we were given the chance to buy some well-aged 2014 Les Evocelles direct from Rossignol's cellar, we jumped at the chance! There's a typical Gevrey nose of griotte and mushroom, followed by a lively array of fruit and spice flavors. The tannins that are ever-present in Rossignol's wines have begun to relax, and the quality of this wonderful Burgundy vintage is on full display.
