We've long been fans of the exceptional southern Côte de Beaune wines of Pablo and Vincent Chevrot, a brother duo that's done wonders in putting these sometimes-misunderstood and often-ignored wines back in the limelight of proper Burgundy. Their Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay hails from the hills above the commune of Maranges, and the soils here are largely granite and marl, so the qualities of this bottling stand in stark relief to the clay-limestone wines of the main slope. It's perhaps richer and broader than the classic Burgundian Chardonnay, but there's a tension and purity here that makes this one of our most interesting white Burgundies...as well as one of our best values. Organic and practicing biodynamic.
