The Keller "Muschelkalk" is always harvested as a Pinot Blanc/Pinot Gris field blend from a one-acre parcel of compacted, fossilized limestone that's packed with ancient mussel shells. It's fermented in the same 2,400 liter neutral fuder used by previous Keller generations, and the finished wine is a testament to the electric energy imparted by this vineyard's ancient limestone. It's lifted, fresh, zippy and aromatic...things we normally don't expect from the sometimes lactic and ponderous varieties that comprise this blend.
