André Huston Mack's Maison Noir project has now turned its attention to Trousseau, the superfine, aromatic and ethereal grape of Jura and Galicia...albeit with a cheeky nod to the Spanish name (Bastardo) for this finicky, hard-to-cultivate grape. Their Willamette Valley rendition is intensely fruited, spicy and floral. It's also wonderfully clean and accessible right out of the gate, showing none of the funk and reduction that can sometimes get in between the wine and the wine drinker. Lovely stuff!
