Claude and Hervé Muzard oversee a southern Côte de Beaune treasure trove of vineyards assembled by their father, Lucien. The Maranges Pinot Noir is always a highlight of the value end of their portfolio, issuing from good old vines at the commune of Cheilly. There is a deep, spicy black cherry fruit here and surprising tannic structure, although the classic "throwback" vintage of 2021 imparts admirable aromatic lift. We cannot recommend wines like this enough, especially when compared to similarly priced Pinots from other parts of the world. Organic.
