To our taste, there's no better winegrower in Meursault right now than Jean-François Germain. He never sacrifices acidity, aroma or precision for the easy impression that can be made with lots of new oak barrels. As a result, his stellar array of Meursault vineyards each easily display their own personalities, and- as implied by their typical and youthful shyness- are taut with the potential for extended cellaring. Germain's Charmes comes from a low-yielding section of older vines and displays a typical hint of what will become an explosively nutty, honeyed elixir...if you can be patient! When last tasted in April, 2025, the nutty, pain grillé elements were just beginning to peek through.
