Fift-generation proprietor Christine Gruère-Dubreuil ably manages her family's Côte de Beaune firm, which has always produced what are, to our taste, perfect examples of the many appellations in which they farm. Although they have extensive holdings in Pernand, including the monopole, Clos Berthet, we love the villages Rouge for its accessibility and value. Fruits de sous-bois, rose petal, spice and mushroom combine here in a medium-weight Pinot Noir that's one of our best wines under $50.
