The Dolceacqua appellation of Liguria (one of the smallest winegrowing areas of Italy) produces very little wine from its steep, chalky soils. Rossese is the historic red variety farmed on this scrubby, scrappy, forbidding land near the Mediterranean Sea by only the most determined of growers, and the very best of them- such as the Rondelli family of Terre Bianche- consistently deliver an exotically scented (rose petals and Asian spice), medium-bodied red, perfect for summer grills and year-round vegetarian menus. This is our all-time favorite wine with fresh Jersey tomatoes!
