At TFWR, we count ourselves as raving fans of both the Nebbiolo grape and of Alpine wines, in general. However, sometimes young examples of Alpine Nebbiolo can be blisteringly forbidding to taste and enjoy; there's just too much of that pine tar/tea rose/castor oil/hard tannin thing standing in the way. Fortunately, the firm of Dirupi in Valtellina has come as close to shaping a perfect "entry level" Nebbiolo as we've ever encountered! All the components of great Alpine wine are there...but they're suspended in near-perfect balance so that you can enjoy this wine right now with all kinds of traditional accompaniments.
