This wine should be part of anyone's core group of great white wines from Spain (or from anywhere in Europe, to be honest). The vines are extremely old- the vineyards were originally planted by Phoenecians in 700 BC- and emerge from cracks in slate along the almost vertical slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range of Málaga. In these treacherous conditions, dry farming and hand harvesting are the only options, as there's no way to access these slopes with trucks or modern equipment of any type. Persistent breezes from the Mediterranean keep things sufficiently dry and cool, and the wine that results is amazingly complex: dry, mineral and super long on the palate, with notes of acacia, jasmine and lychee. Organic.
