
The Chianti Classico firm of Bibbiano, located in Castellina, produces a value-packed, estate-bottle Rosso that's based on Sangiovese and honestly comparable to good Chianti Classico. Their 2019 Passotasso is admirably dark, spicy and well-concentrated and merits purchase by the case as a house wine! The traditional Sangiovese is well-complemented with additions of native grape varieties Ciliegiolo, Malvasia Nera and Canaiolo. Fifth generation owners Tommaso and Federico Marrocchesi Marzi have hit on a winning idea here, and their Passotasso became our #1 selling red wine of 2024. Organic.
