Count on Silvio Messana's skin contact wine to be an absolute tour-de-force, months-long maceration of old vine Trebbiano (with just a bit of Malvasia) in Spanish amphorae- or Tinaja- that reference Silvio's North African upbringing. Much like all of the offerings of Montesecondo, the wine is utterly idiosyncratic, thoroughly engrossing and somehow, typically Tuscan. Biodynamic. No added sulfur.
