The Côte des Blancs 1er Cru of Vertus is the home turf of Veuve Fourny, and their sleek, elegant Grands Terroirs cuvée marries 80% Chardonnay to a firm foundation of 20% Pinot Noir. It's one of our favorite NV Champagnes, as it utilizes base wines that are partially barrel aged, with some of the wine allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation. The result- after 2.5 years' aging in bottle- is a more substantial, nuanced Champagne...which is a stylistic rarity in the Côte des Blancs. Sustainable farming.
