Mark Wentworth's ambitious Pinot Noir project involves three high-altitude Anderson Valley estate vineyards planted within 3-15 miles of the Pacific Ocean. His entry-level 2021 was harvested between September 11 and October 4, spontaneously fermented (80% destemmed) and raised in a combination of old barrels, second-use barrels and 15% new barrels, then bottled unfined and unfiltered in August, 2022. TFWR regulars know that we evaluate American Pinot Noir within the context of Burgundy, and this wine ticks all the boxes, as there's incredible aromatic and flavor intensity and maturity within the context of a lower alcohol (13% ABV) wine. Organic and biodynamic.
